Why give to GivingCart?

GivingCart is staffed entirely by part-time volunteers. Since we all work full-time jobs to support our families, we don't have much time available for GivingCart.

With our resources so limited, sometimes it's hard even to find time to write a proper response to an email from a user—much less improve the site substantially.

Your tax-deductible donation of just $3.50 could help change that.

How can $3.50 make a difference? Consider the following scenario, based on real numbers from the last few months of GivingCart's operation. As of June 1, 2008, we have just over 750 users.

If 750 users were to donate just $3.50 per month to GivingCart, we could support one full-time staff member and could expect to have 2,500 users by the end of 2008.
If 2,500 users donated just $2 per month each, we could hire another staff member, and could expect to reach at least 10,000 users by the end of 2009. At this point we would be raising nearly $100,000 per year for Catholic causes.
If 10,000 users donated just $1 per month each, we could support 3 or 4 staff members and cover our operational expenses. With several people dedicated full-time to its success, GivingCart's fundraising potential would increase swiftly. The site would improve dramatically and its per-user earnings rate would increase. Before anyone knew it, GivingCart would be raising millions of dollars per year for the Church.
